A fire destroyed a home in Warren County Sunday night and a body was recovered from the wreckage. Just after 8 p.m., deputies on patrol witnessed smoke billowing from east of Vicksburg and began to search for the origin of the smoke. Two deputies arrived on the scene to find a home at 230 Old Mt. Alban Road consumed with flames. Firefighters from Culkin and Bovina Volunteer Fire Departments suppressed the fire, after which investigators found a body in one of the bedrooms. The body was released to the coroner’s office for transport to the Mississippi crime lab to determine the identity of the man and the cause and manner of death.

No one else was injured and the investigation is still ongoing.
