Newman Burnell Webster Jr.

Newman Burnell Webster Jr., age 58 years, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at his home in the Oak Ridge community.

He was born July 13, 1956, to Newman B. Sr. and Marye Helen (Warnock) Webster and lived in Warren County most of his life.

Newman attended Redwood Elementary and Warren Central High School. He was a private in the U.S. Army, later receiving a medical discharge due to prior injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was a former employee of Yazoo Valley Electric and Ergon. At the time of his retirement, he was the district organizational instructor for Local 1102. He served areas in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. He also taught classes in Las Vegas.

In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, W. A. and Hester (Sibley) Warnock; and his paternal grandparents, James Ellis (Jim) and Nancy (McCandless) Webster.

He is survived by his sons; Charles Newman “Chuck” (Loren), Brandon and Andrew Lance (Wendy). His beloved granddaughters; Savanna and Lana; sisters, Frances Grey (Roland) of Ozark, Mo., Deborah Stockton (Jim) of Branson West, Mo., and Helen Wright (John) of Redwood; his nephews; who were his “close buddies,” Michael Grey (Melissa), Brad Redditt, Jeremy Hearn (Chelsea) and James Stockton; nieces, Sonya Baer (Patrick) and Amanda Rebert (Chance).

Newman had a very special love for his great-nieces and nephews; Alex Redditt, Sean, Hannah and Liam Grey, Summer and Taylor Baer and Bryce and Bailey Rebert.

He enjoyed reading and learning new skills, watching TV, and cookouts with friends and family. He loved hunting deer and turkey and fishing with his sons and his friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working on his property as well as gardening, riding his tractor and ATVs.

Newman was always a nice looking man with a big smile. He was witty, frugal, honest and dependable. He cherished his friendships and was always glad to meet and make new friends. He dearly loved his sons, granddaughters, friends and family. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, especially his sisters.

Services will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Giordano officiating. Burial will follow at Bradley Chapel United Methodist Church with internment in the Webster Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be his sons and friends, Charles Newman (Chuck), Brandon, Andrew Lance Webster, Richard Knox, Johnny Sullivan and Danny K. Redditt.

Honorary Pallbearers will be R. K. Foley, Pat Ring, Sonny Mathes, Michael Grey, Gary Webster, Michael Sowell, Tony VanNorman, George Dwiggins and all Local 1102 Members.
