TALLULAH, LA. — Dennis L. Black of Dunn, La. died Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

Services are Friday, March 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home, Tallulah.

Visitation is today from 5 to 7 p.m., and Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Mr. Black was a retired teacher from the Richland Parish School District, and a retired Air Force senior master sergeant, having served from 1958 until 1979, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Recognition, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Bronze Star Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal.

He was a lifelong member of Dunn Church of God, a strong supporter of the Louisiana Association of Educators, and an avid LSU and Pittsburgh Steelers fan,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mary A. Black; three brothers, James G. Black, Julian T. Black and Mickal J. Black; and one grandson, Travis Patrick Black.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary J. Black; daughter Carole Snyder and husband Joe; son Dennis L. Black Jr., son, Stephen P. Black and wife Lisa, and son, Karl Black; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be a special friend of the family, Jay Skeldon, and grandsons Craig Gilbert Jr., Adam Gilbert, Bryan Black, Trent Black and Paul Black.
