Nearly every match between Warren Central and Madison-St. Joseph was a rout.

All except one, and that was the one that swung the day in St. Joe’s favor.

St. Joe’s Caleigh Harkins beat WC’s Michaela Mobley 6-4, 2-6, 14-12 in a three-set slugfest Monday afternoon to give the Bruins a 4-3 team victory at Halls Ferry Park.

“That was a great match. It just happened to swing their way in that tiebreaker,” Warren Central coach Jeff Pilgrim said.

Madison-St. Joe also won points in boys singles and both girls doubles matches without dropping a set. The Bruins only lost seven games total in those three other wins.

Warren Central had just as easy a time in its three match wins.

Joseph Jabour and Alex Velazquez won 6-2, 6-4 in No. 1 boys doubles, and William Wooten and Brent Styles won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 boys doubles. In mixed doubles, Matthew Register and Avery Lynn Liddell won 6-0, 6-1.

The Vikings will next play a pair of crucial division matches, today in Jackson against Murrah and Thursday at Halls Ferry Park against Greenville. Both matches start at 4 p.m.
