MIRROR BALL TROPHY: Elayne and Charles Gamble, winners of the third annual Dancing with the Vicksburg Stars fundraiser, stand with their trophy in the Lady Luck Arena in 2014.

The fourth edition of the United Way of West Central Mississippi’s Dancing With the Vicksburg Stars will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Lady Luck Arena on Warrenton Road.

This year seven dance teams will compete for the 4th Annual Dancing with the Vicksburg Stars’ Mirror Ball trophy.

“Dancing with the Vicksburg Stars is unique from our other events because it showcases volunteers love to dance and to give back to their community,” said Kristen Meehan, director of marketing and community relations. “If you look at our dance teams you will see that many of our participants have participated for two and three years with this event.”

The teams are Ameristar – Uptown Funk, Kensell and Lakesha Batty, Brandon Lott, Delores Coomes and Vic Goodwin, Crystal’s Hip Hop Crew, GOLD (Get On Up Line Dancers) and Harley Caldwell and William “Bill” Caldwell.

“It’s a fun way for volunteers to give back which in turns provides a entertaining evening in our community. Our organization relies on our volunteers and community support to help us successfully reach our mission, Meehan said.”

“Also, I’m always very touched with how much preparation our dance teams put into this event. It’s a huge investment on their part because not only are they practicing they are also busy drumming up support for their team,” Meehan said. “It’s a huge endeavor and the fact that they take it on with a smile just shows how strongly they support their community with their volunteerism.”
