PCA hosts Bubba Mims golf tournament

Porters Chapel Academy will host the 11th annual Bubba Mims Memorial Golf Classic April 29 at Vicksburg Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble and will begin with lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The entry fee is $90 per player and includes cart, beverages and lunch. A hole-in-one prize of a new vehicle from George Carr will be available, along with prizes for cloest to the hole and longest drive.

Hole sponsorships are available for $100, and tournament sponsorships for $395. All proceeds benefit Porters Chapel Academy.

Titleist golf demo at Clear Creek

Titleist Golf will hold a demo day April 25 at the Clear Creek Golf Course driving range from 12 to 4 p.m. It is open to the public. For information, call 601-638-9395.

 

Play 2 Wynn basketball camp

Former Vicksburg High star Donna Brown-Wynn will host her 13th annual annual Play 2 Wynn basketball camp June 1-5 at Vicksburg High School. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day, and is for boys and girls ages 6-17. The cost is $75 per person. Players of all skill levels are welcome.

Brown is a former VHS and Mississippi State star who went on to coach at Mississippi State, Belmont University and Tennessee State.

American Red Cross Learn to Swim class

Registration for the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” program will be held May 13-15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at City Pool.

The cost of each two-week session is $12, and classes are held Monday through Friday. All participants must be at least 5 years old at the beginning of the course.

The sessions will run from June 1-12, June 22-July 3, and July 13-24. Three classes, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5:45 p.m., will be held each day. Adult and preschool classes are at 5:45 p.m. only.
