Gain gave up just three hits in a 2-1 loss to Clinton on Wednesday. Against Brookhaven (17-6), she gave up six hits, struck out six and walked none.

Brookhaven scratched its run across in the bottom of the first inning, when Katie Grace Culpepper reached on an error, moved to third on a base hit by Kat Shell, and scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Lady Vikes (9-5) had several chances to even the score, but couldn’t get the job done. They had six hits and left runners on in six of the seven innings.

Brooke Patterson went 2-for-3 for Warren Central, and Katie Channell hit a triple.

Shell had two hits for Brookhaven, and also matched Gain pitch for pitch. Shell didn’t walk a batter, struck out six, and allowed six hits.
