Lois K. Alford

Lois K. Alford died Friday, May 1, 2015, her home after a lengthy illness. She was 86.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. King Sr. and Nellie F. King.

Mrs. Alford was a 1946 honor graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. She was owner of Saxton’s Tirebarn for many years prior to her retirement in 2011. Mrs. Alford was known to her many friends, family and customers as “Grammy”.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn A. and Bob Newell of Vicksburg; sister, Frances Sanders of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Rudy Warnock Jr. (Brooke) of Madison, Greg Warnock (Tracy) of Vicksburg, Tracy Doyle (Eddy) of Columbus and Thomas G. Alford, III, Dallas; and nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Thomas G. Alford, Sr.; son Thomas G. (Bo) Alford, Jr.; two brothers, Robert C. King Jr. and Otto C. King; two sisters, Mary Lou Blackmon and Barbara Nell Dwyer.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Miller officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Memorials may be made to charities of choice. The family would like to express their special thanks to the staff and nurses of St. Joseph’s Hospice and Dr. Laura Clement for their compassionate and loving care of Grammy in her final years.

Pallbearers will be Bob Newell, Greg Warnock, Rudy Warnock, Ryan Warnock, Noah Warnock, Eddy Doyle, BJ Alford and Jerry Lamb. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne McMaster, Clifton McMillan, Jesse Davenport, Tommy Hutto and Joe Graham.
