“This is my first one,” Lynn Foley said. “I missed last year’s because I had to go out of town, but made sure to be here this year. I heard last year was fantastic.”

David Rorick also heard this event was one to experience.

“We did not come last year, but we heard it was really good.” he said.

Rorick came dressed for the event, decked out in a suit and tie and sporting a pair of musical themed suspenders.

Others had attended last year’s event and were excited to see what the night had in store.

“It was good last year, it was great, Bill Ford said.

After a filet dinner with shrimp and grits and a white chocolate bread pudding desert the band took the stage.

The LA Legacy Jazz Orchestra is a 14-piece group comprised of musicians totaling more than 40 years combined experience. Co-owner of the ensemble, Bert Windham, leads the band.

Vocalist featured during the show were Bach Norwood, Naomi Holder and Adam Jones.

As the band found a rhythm the dance floor filled as couples swayed to big band sounds, funk, Latin and salsa music.

The band also played hits by Elvis, the Beatles, Chicago and Michael Buble.

The place came alive as Miss Mississippi 2014 Jasmine Murray took the stage for a performance of Uptown Funk.

After the performance Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. presented Murray and Naomi Holder with a bouquet of white roses.

Mutual Credit Union sponsored a $200 cash prize for the person who had the most online interaction through live tweets with the hashtag #ritzonriver, and the tweets were projected on video screens.

The whole event was for a good cause as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Storehouse Community Food Pantry.
