Ernest J. Pace

Ernest J. Pace died Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Jackson. He was 86.

Mr. Pace was born in Smackover, Ark., and lived in Vicksburg from 1969 to 2015.

He retired after 26 years of service with International Paper Company in 1994, where he was an electrician.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Houston Pace; parents, Eddie Ernest Pace and Louella Benton Pace; and sister, Edith Pace.

Survivors include a son, Ernest Glenn Pace of Westland, Mich.; two daughters, Linda Carroll Wells of Ridgeland and Lea Ann Bethany of Clinton; and two grandchildren, Cary Trammell of Ridgeland and Grace Bethany of Clinton; four sisters, Edwina and Pat Pace from Searcy, Ark., Doris Desoto and Charlotte Vinson from El Dorado, Ark.; and one brother, James Pace of McNeil, Ark.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at Glenwood Funeral Home, with service following at 11.

 

Johnny E. Sanders

Johnny E. Sanders, 54, Kosciusko, passed away July 23, 2015.

Born in Baton Rouge, La., he lived in Vicksburg most of his life, but for the past four years lived in Kosciusko.

He worked on the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Matt sinking unit.

He is preceded in death by his father George Sanders.

He was an avid builder who remodeled his own home. He was an avid hunter who loved his family and his horses and dog.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Goss Sanders of Kosciusko; one son, Charles Sanders of Vicksburg; two daughters, Glenda Luke (Brian) of Vicksburg and Sarah Smith (Morgan) of Kosciusko; mother, Catherine Sanders, of Vicksburg; two brothers, Jerry Sanders and Darryll Sanders (Deon), both of Vicksburg; one sister, Charlene Gentry of Carthage; three granddaughters, Katlin Luke, Delaney McKinnon and Reagan Smith.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015, under the direction of Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.
