Officers make arrest in Saturday morning murder

One man is in custody and another man dead following a stabbing early Saturday morning.

Vicksburg Police reported Saturday they had arrested Bernard Brown, 50, in connection with the death of Mack Vaughn, 41.

According to a release from the department, officers responded to Merit Health River Region just before 5 a.m. Saturday in response to a stabbing victim. Brown was later taken into custody, around 5:30 a.m., on the 2100 block of Clay Street.

Police are still working to determine a motive.

Brown is currently being held at the Vicksburg Police Department pending murder charges. According to Capt. Sandra Williams, with the Vicksburg Police Department, Brown will be transported to the Issaquena County Correctional Facility following an initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday.
