PCA, WC cruise to softball wins

Everybody hit, almost everybody scored, and the Porters Chapel Lady Eagles won big Tuesday against Trinity.

All nine PCA starters had at least one hit, eight players scored a run, and the Lady Eagles scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning to cruise to a 10-0 victory.

Leadoff hitter Anna Beth Miller led the way by going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Raylee Barwick was 3-for-3 with a triple, RBI and a run scored, while Shelby Barwick, Cameron Yocum, Sabrina Embry and Kaylee Hinson had two hits apiece.

Shelby Barwick ended the game by the mercy rule with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Raylee Barwick had an RBI triple and Mallarie Ashley an RBI double in the first inning, when PCA (12-5-1, 4-1 District 5-A) batted around.

Hannah Embry pitched a complete-game shutout. She didn’t walk a batter, only gave up two hits and struck out five.

Warren Central 18, Franklin County 4

Anaiyah Fultz went 4-for-4 with a triple, double and two RBIs, Megan Stewart was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored, and Warren Central routed Franklin County Tuesday night, 18-4.

Morgan Stewart singled twice, walked, scored three runs and drove in one for the Lady Vikes, who scored seven runs in the first inning, six in the second and five in the third.

April Lynn also scored three runs.

WC will next play Thursday, when it hosts Ridgeland at 6:15 p.m.
