Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members had a game of match play. Linda McHann logged the lowest score as well as the lowest number of putts. Joyce Johnson and Carol Roberson placed second and third, respectively.

VHS hosts college game

Vicksburg High will host a college softball game between Jackson State and East Mississippi Community College at its “Softball Swamp” field on Oct. 24. The game will be played as a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., and admission is $2 at the gate.

Fall tennis program

The City of Vicksburg’s youth fall tennis program is under way at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The program will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 6 p.m., and is free.

Over the River Run

Registration is now open for the 27th Annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge. The Over the River Run is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. A 1-mile children’s fun run will follow the 5-mile run and walk.

The entry fee is $30 for adults, and $15 for children 10 and under. There’s also a $55 rate for families of as many as five people, and a $75 corporate rate.

VHS archery tryouts

Tryouts for the Vicksburg High girls archery team will be held Oct. 14 and 15, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. each day, in the VHS Junior ROTC building. All archers must have a completed physical. For more information, email coach Pamela Piazza at pamela.piazza@vwsd.org.

Monster Mash at Moss

Hinds Community College will host its fourth annual “Monster Mash at Moss” charity softball game Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at Joe G. Moss baseball field on the Raymond campus. Hinds’ baseball and softball teams will dress in Halloween costumes for the co-ed game, and fans are encouraged to dress up as well. There will be a trick-or-treat area for children.

Admission is $5, or $2 with a Hinds ID. Children 12 and under get in free. All proceeds benefit Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson.

AJGT Buick Classic

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the AJGT Crown Buick Fall Junior Classic on Oct. 24 and 25 at the Oak Course at Beau Chene in Mandeville, La. The entry fee for the two-day, 36-hole tournament is $185 and includes green fees, tee gifts and trophies in four age divisions. The entry deadline is Oct. 22 at noon.
