Struggling PCA no match for WCCA

As the season grows shorter, Porters Chapel Academy couldn’t avoid another long night.

The Eagles, minus several starters from an already depleted and inexperienced lineup, gained only 61 yards on offense and lost 49-0 Friday to Wilkinson County Christian.

The loss was the sixth in a row for PCA (1-7, 0-2 District 5-AA), which has been shut out four times and scored a total of 34 points this season. The Eagles only started three upperclassmen on Friday, and were without injured starting linebacker Michael Brewer and two other ninth-grade starters who missed the game for other reasons.

WCCA (6-2, 1-0) led 36-0 at halftime.

“We had to move some people around to different positions, and had some that were playing varsity for the first time since we moved them up at the end of the junior high season,” PCA coach Wayne Lynch said. “We only have three upperclassmen on the team. It’s like a junior varsity team playing a varsity right now.”
