Bonnie Nell Wise Thornton

BOLTON — Bonnie Nell Wise Thornton died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Trinity Mission & Rehab of Clinton. She was 95 years old.

Mrs. Thornton was born in Elba, Ala., on July 4, 1920, and had lived most of her life in Bolton.

She worked for years at the Old Ladies Home in Jackson until it closed.

She loved helping others and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Thornton attended Bolton Baptist Church where she was a member of the Womens Missonary Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thornton; and two sons, Reuben and Jerry Thornton.

Mrs. Thornton is survived three sons, Allen (Judy) Thornton of Bolton, David (Cindy) Thornton of Flora and Bobby (Patricia) Thornton of Bolton; a daughter, Shirley (John) Ruffin of Lexington, Ky.;  a sister, Idell Mayberry of Shreveport, La.;  six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Bolton Cemetery in Bolton with the Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating. Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
