Football workout camp

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League will hold a free agent tryout camp Jan. 29 at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson. The camp is for all players who are three years removed from high school and eligible to play professionally. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the camp at 6. There is a $100 registration fee, payable in cash. The workout will take place on a turf field and will be non-padded. No football equipment is needed, although a water bottle is recommended.

(G) Porters Chapel 26, Franklin Academy 15 – Anna Grace White and Brittnee Martin scored seven points apiece to lead Porters Chapel Academy’s junior high girls basketball team past Franklin Academy on Tuesday night.

VGSA registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s 2016 season will begin on Monday and continue through Feb. 22. The league is for girls ages 4 through 18, and the registration fee is $60. Team sponsorships are also available for $100 or $200.

Registration forms are available at Hobie’s and Just Duett Sports. Practices begin March 5, and the season begins March 28.

VWAA registration

Registration is open for the Vicksburg Warren Athletic Association’s 2016 youth baseball season, and will continue until Friday. The league is open to all children ages 5-15, and the registration fee is $75. Tryouts will be Feb. 8 and 9 at Halls Ferry Park for players ages 7-15 only. Church League basketball

Registration is open for the Kings Empowerment Center’s 5-on-5 Church Basketball league. The league is for players in grades 6-12, and is split into three age divisions. The registration fee is $150 per team, and registration will continue until Friday. Games begin Jan. 30.

Mississippi Brilla tryouts

Mississippi Brilla FC, a semipro soccer team, will hold tryouts on Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Traceway Park in Clinton. The tryouts are open to high school, college and former college players, and there is a $35 registration fee.
