Claiborne County authorities are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a Claiborne County man whose body was found Friday by a passerby on Willow Road between Hermanville and Old Highway 61 in the county.

Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis said Kordell Bates, 25, was found about 5:45 a.m. Friday lying on the roadside shot in the face. He said Bates’ body was sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

“We’re talking to several people about this, but we have no suspects at this time,” he said.

He said Bates was not one of the two men reported missing earlier on the Mississippi River.

Brothers Darryll Wilson and Joshua Wilson, Claiborne County residents, were last seen March 9, when they went fishing on the river.

Davis said searchers Monday found a vest with cellphones belonging to Joshua Wilson were found below the Bayou Pier, adding the search for the men was continuing.
