Sections of city without power

More than 1,000 people in East Vicksburg were without electricity after a Sunday evening power outage.

The outage began about 5:15 p.m. and covered an section of the eastern part of the city from north of Interstate 20 and east of the Vicksburg National Military Park south to Halls Ferry Road affecting 1,172, according to the power outage map on Entergy’s website. The cause was not given.

According to the map, the outage extended the length of Porters Chapel Road south to Halls Ferry Road and includedstreets on both sides of Porters Chapel Road south to Halls Ferry Road, including Indiana Avenue from I-20 west to St. Charles Place.

Attempts to contact Entergy officials to learn if power had restored were unsuccessful, although a resident on Porters Chapel said their power had been restored by about 6 p.m.
