Gators show out at North State meet

OXFORD — Vicksburg High’s Tymesha Nabors won the girls’ 100 and 300 meter hurdles, while Leon Miles won the boys’ 300 hurdles and was second in the 110 meter event Saturday at the MHSAA Class 5A North State meet in Oxford.

A total of 13 VHS athletes in 13 events finished in the top four of their respective events Saturday to advance to next week’s Class 5A state meet at Pearl High School.

Moving on from the girls’ team was Mia Thomas (shot put), Destiny Allen (triple jump), Nabors, Keiyana Gaskin (100 and 200 meters), Char’Davia Anderson (400 meters), and Jade Douglas (800 meters). The 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams also advanced.

Advancing from the boys’ team were Tyler McDowell (triple jump and long jump), Marlon Hodge (triple jump), Miles, Greg Lewis (100 meters), Ramsey Fultz (110 and 300 meter hurdles), Kemontez White (400 meters) and Otis Johnson (800 meters). The 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 meter relay teams also advanced.

McDowell won the long jump, Douglas won the 800 meters, and both 4×400 teams finished first. The girls’ 4×100 relay team also won.
