St. Al boys second at cross country meet

Chandler Roesch finished ninth overall out of 124 runners to lead a strong team finish for St. Aloysius’ boys cross country team Tuesday at the Cathedral Invitational in Natchez.

Roesch crossed the finish line in the 5K in 18 minutes, 44.20 seconds. He was followed by Adam Eckstein in 15th place, Charlie Gannon in 19th, and Gregory Thomas in 26th.
St. Al totaled 106 points to finish second in the team standings. Cathedral was first, with 63 points, and Columbia Academy third with 126.

In the girls’ meet, St. Al’s Iley Baldwin finished seventh and Mary Miller Theobald was 11th. The Lady Flashes only had four runners competing, which was one short of the minimum required for a team score.

In the junior varsity meet, Porters Chapel Academy’s Bridger Jung won the boys’ 2-mile race with a time of 13:31.50. The Eagles finished third in the team standings.
