Vicksburg and Warren County spent a quiet Thanksgiving holiday weekend with no major incidents handled by Vicksburg Police or the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.

Only one felony crime was reported over the weekend, with police called to the burglary of a home Sunday in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said a 32-inch flat screen TV was reported stolen from a home about 9 a.m.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said deputies reported no serious traffic issues during the holiday period with no major accidents.

“We had no serious wrecks or traffic incidents,” Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said. “There were no fatalities and no incidents involving alcohol.”

He said traffic was heavy during the holiday period starting Thanksgiving night through Black Friday, when many stores opened early for special shopping programs.

“Traffic was very heavy around the stores and the mall Friday and Saturday,” he said. “We had officers assigned to the Pemberton Boulevard and Iowa Boulevard areas, and Halls Ferry Road and the frontage roads to help with traffic during the weekend.

“Other than the traffic, everything went very well over the weekend.”
