At 8 p.m. Saturday, an armed robbery was reported at Quick and Easy on U.S. 61 South, Williams said. Two men, one who was reportedly armed, are accused of taking an undetermined amount of cash, Williams said.

Anyone with information about any of these crimes is encouraged to call Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477, Williams said. Callers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court. Crime stoppers will pay a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.

In other reports:

A Vicksburg man was arrested for attacking an officer.

At 11 p.m. Saturday, Anthony Johnson was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, Williams said.

Johnson is accused of refusing to leave a local casino and assaulting the Vicksburg police officer who responded to the disturbance, she said. Johnson appeared in court Tuesday and was given $5,000 bail, Williams said.

A Vicksburg man wanted on several warrants was arrested Monday.

Jermaine Sims, 32, was arrested around 3 p.m. Monday in Edwards, Williams said.

The Vicksburg Police Department had a misdemeanor warrant for Sims’ arrest and picked him up from the Edwards Police Department where he was being held, she said. It was then discovered the Mississippi Department of Corrections and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office both had warrants for Sims as well. Williams said Sims was processed and transferred over to sheriff’s office custody.

Trail delayed due to lack of jurors

NATCHEZ — The retrial of a man accused of shooting and killing his live-in girlfriend in 2010 hit a snag Tuesday when not enough people could be seated for jury selection.

Robert Wayne Silva, 61, is being retried for the shooting death of Darlene Berthelot, whose body was discovered in June 2010 stuffed in a freezer in the couple’s Jayess house in Lawrence County.

The presiding judge ordered jury summons be served in person to those who did not appear for jury duty Tuesday. The judge said court was set to resume Wednesday morning.
