Final phases of Wisconsin Avenue project a welcome sight to businesses, residents

For those who shop at Family Dollar, off of South Frontage Road, there must be a feeling that you have to dodge traffic just to get from your car to the front door.

In actuality, you do, as that parking lot has long been a Wisconsin Avenue connector to the South Frontage Road long before the current road project near Blackburn Motors even broke ground.

Those traveling off of Wisconsin had few options to get to the Frontage Roads and the interstate without having to cut through that parking lot, or cutting through neighborhoods, like the one on John Allen Street.

Wisconsin Avenue is a main road in Vicksburg, without a main way to get on, or off of it. That is why this ongoing connecting road project, which is thankfully near completion, is so important.

Paving is expected to begin next week, drawing closer to the end of the project that started in April.

Businesses, and residents, who are located and live on Wisconsin, have waited a long time for this project to become a reality.

We are glad this project is nearing the finish line.
