(B) Vicksburg 31, Warren Central 30 – Darius Johnson scored nine points and Jermiah Brown added seven to lead Vicksburg High’s junior varsity team past Warren Central on Friday. Walt Hopson led Warren Central with eight points, and Chris Green scored seven.

Hinds baseball camp

Hinds Community College will host its Winter Baseball Showcase on Jan. 21 at Joe G. Moss Field in Raymond. The camp is for players in grades 9-12. On-site registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the showcase at 12:30 p.m. The cost of the showcase is $75 per player.

The showcase will consist of a pro-style workout and an instructional period. All players must bring cleats, turf shoes, a bat and batting gloves.

Adult basketball league

Registration for the Vicksburg Park and Recreation Department’s men’s and women’s adult basketball leagues will continue through Dec. 30. The registration fee is $125 per team, plus an extra $5 fee for each non-city resident. The total team fee will not exceed $175.

Registration packets can be picked up at either the Parks and Recreation office at 100 Army-Navy Drive or at the Jackson Street Community Center. A mandatory coaches meeting will be held Dec. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation offices.

Chill in the Hills 10K

The ninth annual Chill in the Hills 10K run and 5K race walk is scheduled for Jan. 14 in downtown Vicksburg.

The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Guaranty Bank on the corner of Cherry and Belmont Streets. Raceday registration and packet pickup will also take place at Guaranty Bank before the race on Jan. 14 and the evening of Jan. 13.

The Chill in the Hills 10K is a fundraiser for Grace Christian Counseling Center.

Jingle Bell Half Marathon

The Jingle Bell Half Marathon and 5K is scheduled for Dec. 17 in Monroe, La. The half-marathon will begin at 8 a.m. near the River Market and wind through downtown Monroe. The 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the same location.

The registration fee for the half-marathon is $85 through Dec. 15, and $95 on race day.
The fee for the 5K is $30 through Dec. 15, and $35 on race day.
