Adult co-ed softball

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed softball league will begin Aug. 1 and continue until Sept. 15. The registration fee is $175 per team, plus an extra $10 for residents of Warren County and $20 for each resident of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.

There is a mandatory coaches meeting scheduled for Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the City of Vicksburg’s Parks and Recreation Department office at 100 Army Navy Drive.

Fall baseball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s fall baseball league will begin Aug. 7 and continue until Sept. 15. The league is for players ages 5-15, and will be split into five age groups. Coaches are needed for all teams.

The registration fee is $25 per player. Registration forms are available at 601 Sports on Pemberton Blvd., and at the Parks and Recreation offices at 100 Army Navy Drive. For more information call Parks and Recreation Joseph Graves at 601-634-4514.

Red Carpet Bowl tickets

Tickets for the 2017 Red Carpet Bowl will go on sale on Aug. 1 at locations throughout Vicksburg. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $15 at the gate, and are good for both games of the doubleheader on Aug. 18 at Warren Central’s Viking Stadium.

Vicksburg will play Oxford in the first game, at 5:30 p.m., and Warren Central will play Clarksdale at 8 p.m.
Tickets will be available at 601 Sports on Pemberton Blvd.; Michel’s Music on Washington Street; River Outfitters on Halls Ferry Road; the Vicksburg Warren School District athletic office on Mission 66; Vicksburg High School, Vicksburg Junior High, Warren Central High School and Warren Central Junior High; or from any Red Carpet Bowl committee member.

Clear Creek events

Clear Creek Golf Course will host a weekly junior golf camp each Wednesday in July, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per person, per week.

Clear Creek will also host the Warren County Championship for players 18 and over on July 29 and 30. Play will begin at 8 a.m. each day, and the entry fee is $110 per player.

Summer tennis camp

The City of Vicksburg will host its annual free summer tennis camp throughout the summer at Halls Ferry Park. The lessons run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each weekday, with a junior team tennis session following from 10 a.m. to noon.

The lessons are taught by City of Vicksburg tennis director Rick Shields, and assistants Ann-Stewart Piazza, George Wilkerson and Lauren Davis. For more information, call Shields at 601-618-4757.
