Amanda Leigh Carney

Amanda Leigh Carney died Thursday, July 27, 2017, in Homer, La. She was 18. Born in Flowood, she was the daughter of Andrea Leigh Bell and James Arnold and Howard Carney. 

Amanda was a 2017 graduate of Summerfield High School in Summerfield, La. where she graduated with honors and was active in sports including the softball program.

She was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Amanda was currently enrolled in the nursing program at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark.  She was a member of Cross Point Church.

Amanda is survived by a sister, Katherine Emily Carney; step-sister, Courtney Ray (Stephen); maternal grandparents, John and Joan Bell and her aunt, Debra Bell Bayler (Bob).  Amanda is also survived by a nephew, Tyler James Ray and cousins John Ryan Lee (Misty), Layton Lee and Lawson Lee.

Amanda was predeceased by her aunts, Beverly Jean Bell and Patricia Denise Bell.

Service will 3 p.m Monday, July 31, at Riles Funeral Home with Reverend LaDon Dawson, Pastor of Cross Point Church, officiating. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the service.  Burial will be in Green Lawn Gardens Cemetery. 

The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to the personnel of the David Wade Correctional Center in Homer, La.  and to all local and state law enforcement of Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Goodwin, Scott Cottrell, Jake Baird, Stephen Ray, Chris Collins and Shane Quimby.

Memorials in Amanda’s memory may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, La. 71103.
