WC volleyball, softball cruise to wins

Warren Central’s volleyball team notched another region win, and another playoff berth in one easy win.

The Lady Vikes beat Provine 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-16) on Tuesday to clinch a playoff berth for the third straight season.

Warren Central (8-7, 4-1 Region 3, Class III) won its second match in a row and for the third time in four matches.

Taylor Smith and Kene Smith had 10 assists apiece for the Lady Vikes, while Abby Claire Fuller had seven. Laney Smith led the team with eight kills and Layken Stockstill recorded six. Taylor Smith also served five aces.

Warren Central will play its final region match of the season Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Clinton. The regular season continues through mid-October, and the playoffs begin Oct. 19.

Softball
Warren Central 14, Bogue Chitto 2

Kelsey Lockridge went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBIs to lead Warren Central’s slow-pitch softball team to a 14-2 victory over Bogue Chitto on Tuesday.

Lockridge scored three runs. April Lynn and Cocoa Fultz also homered for the Lady Vikes (4-1), while Laura Reagan Logue had two hits and scored two runs.
