Warren County residents are reminded of their three Ps: pets, pipes and plants. But also keep in mind to be safe when using space heaters and fireplaces to remain warm.

According to national statistics, space heaters cause one third of home heating fires and 4 out of 5 home heating fire deaths.

Space heaters should have an auto shut-off in case it tips over and should be at least 3 feet from anything that can burn.

When using a fireplace, always keep a metal or heat tempered screen around it to stay safe.

And check the batteries in smoke detectors in case of a fire.
