Weather alters local sports schedule

Warren County’s sports calendar took a snow day on Tuesday.

An approaching winter storm led officials at all four of the county’s high schools to cancel classes, and with it extracurricular activities and sporting events.

Six soccer games and six basketball games were postponed, including several key division matchups.

Among the postponed games:

Warren Central’s soccer games at division rival Clinton were rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 22. The girls will play at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7.

Warren Central’s home basketball games against Provine were tentatively rescheduled for Jan. 24 at 6 and 7:30 p.m..

Vicksburg High’s home soccer games against Callaway were postponed. No makeup date was announced.

St. Aloysius’ boys soccer game at Park Place and home basketball games against Central Hinds were both postponed. No makeup dates were announced, although both are district games and must be played.

In addition, a previously postponed soccer game at Hillcrest Christian has been rescheduled for Jan. 30 at 4 p.m.

Porter’s Chapel Academy’s home soccer game against Adams Christian and boys and girls basketball games at Riverfield Academy were postponed. No makeup dates were announced.
