A Vicksburg man faces aggravated assault charges after his arrest Sunday by Vicksburg police on a Warren County Warrant, Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Jerald Jamarcus Smith, 24, 205 Hills of the Valley, is accused of shooting Jonathon Daniel Wilson, 33, during an argument at the K&B Lounge on Green Hill Road on Feb. 10. He was being held without bail in the Warren County Jail pending an initial court appearance Tuesday.

He is also charge by police with making harassing telephone calls.

According to sheriff’s office reports, the shooting was the result of an argument between several people that began in the lounge and the management asked the participants to leave. The argument continued in the parking lot and Wilson was shot in the left hand, left bicep and the lower chest.

An investigation into the argument identified Smith as a suspect, and sheriff’s investigator Todd Dykes received a tip that Smith was in Vicksburg. Police officers arrested him in the 1700 block of Monroe Street.

In another case, Justin Barrett, 33, 8417 Mississippi 433 West, Bentonia, is charged with burglary in the Feb. 2 theft of a firearm from a home on Possum Hollow Road. The weapon was recovered.

Barrett was released on $5,000 bond.
