As Kenny Williams of Vicksburg made headlines last week with his record-breaking alligator gar netted at Lake Chotard in Issaquena County, Edley Jones of Vicksburg submitted this photo taken in 1947 of a group with a gar they caught on a Jaycees outing. With only one pair of shoes among them, the fishermen are, from left, Jones, Sue Carlton Rogers, Robert Selby, John Rogers of McComb, Dorothy Stamm and George Rogers. The 1947 fish weighed 172 pounds, and the one taken last week weighed 327.
