TERRY JACK SHOEMAKER

BRANDON Terry Jack Shoemaker died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at his home in Brandon. He was 44.

Mr. Shoemaker was a native of Scott County. He was employed by Flynt Lawn Service. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Shoemaker.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Helen and David Osburn of Leesburg, Miss.; his stepmother, Lottie Shoemaker of Brandon; three brothers, Jerry Shoemaker of Leesburg, Michael Shoemaker of D’Lo and Sonny Man Westbrook of Brandon; six sisters, Sherry Roby and Christine Hood, both of Brandon, Merry Thompson of Eagle Lake, Sheila King of Leesburg, Edna Quarles of Florence and Carolyn Dorsey of Atlanta; and his maternal grandmother, Estelle Parker of Leesburg.

Services were Sunday at Leesburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Rankin County. Burial followed under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.

DORIS BARR SUMRALL

CLINTON Doris Barr Sumrall died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at her home in Clinton. She was 65.

Mrs. Sumrall, a native of Pace, lived in Port Gibson for 20 years before moving with her husband to Clinton in 1969. They owned and operated Buckley’s Cleaners before retiring in 1996.

Mrs. Sumrall was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Sumrall.

Survivors include a son, Buster Sumrall of Jackson; her mother, Jennie Barr of Port Gibson; two sisters, Wilma Blaylock of Jayess and Gwen Boren of Port Gibson; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Sumrall and Justin Sumrall, both of Jackson.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert St. John, Robert Gage, Douglas Nasif, Ellis Nasif, Mel Daigle, Nathan Morgan, Donald Carter and Buddy Howard.

CHARLES H. WHITAKER

TALLULAH Charles H. Whitaker died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at the Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. He was 89.

Mr. Whitaker was a farmer and retired truck driver for the State of Louisiana. He had lived in Tallulah for more than 65 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four sons, Wesley Whitaker, James Whitaker, Melvin Whitaker and Carlton Whitaker, all of Tallulah; four daughters, Dora Mae Koehler of Bay Town, Texas, Paula Ainsworth of Tallulah, Attie Kay Day of Monroe and Connie Walker of Redwood; one sister, Mandy McGill of Tallulah; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
