ERNESTINE JONES

FAYETTE Ernestine Jones died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Natchez Regional Medical Center.

She was 41.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Claiborne County and had lived in Fayette for a number of years. She worked as a teacher for the AJFC Head Start. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman, where she was in the choir. She was a member of the Love and Honor Society and the Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David C. Jones and Luella Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Luella Jones and Ayanna Jones, both of Lorman; four sisters, Patricia Jones-Beall Funches and Essis M. Jones, both of Jackson, Pamela Fells Robinson of Lorman and Rosie Marie Fisher of Manassas, Va.; six brothers, Ronald C. Jones, Kenneth Jones, Baron Jones and Antonia Jones, all of Lorman, Samuel Jones of Jackson and Curvin Jones of Pascagoula; four aunts; three uncles; and other relatives, including Georgette Houston of Fayette, Palas Beall of Jackson and Kendrick Dorsey of Lorman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Jessie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Maurice Thompson, Ronnie Ellis, King Edward Anderson, Eric Monroe, Delmar Funches and Raymond Dorsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Dorsey, Samuel Jones, Baron Jones, Fred Thomas Jr., Baron Thomas, Jerome Hangron and Frank Gillie Jr.

CLIFTON F. RAWLINGS

Services for Clifton Francis Rawlings will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Mr. Rawlings died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

He was 67.

Born and reared in Vicksburg, Mr. Rawlings was an interior decorator and had been employed for a number of years by Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Rawlings Sr. and Katie Rawlings; three brothers, John Rawlings, Eugene Rawlings and Clarence Rawlings Jr.; and a sister, Inez Darden.

He is survived by his wife, Willette Rawlings of Vicksburg; six sons, Clifton Rawlings Jr. of Atlanta, Timothy Rawlings of Petersburg, Va., Corey Rawlings, Christopher Rawlings and Charles Meekins, all of Vicksburg, and the Rev. Clifton Rawlings II of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Almeda Rawlings of Atlanta and LaTonya Meekins of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives, including Dora Rawlings, Jeremy Meekins and the Darden family, all of Vicksburg.

NELLIE P. WILLIAMS

HERMANVILLE Nellie P. Williams died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

She was 96.

Mrs. Williams had lived in Hermanville for the past 79 years. She owned and operated a cattle business and was a gardener. She was a member of Hermanville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wesley Purvis and G.L. Williams; and a son, John Wesley Purvis Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy McCaa of Port Gibson; a sister, Helen Pod of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hermanville Cemetery.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hermanville Baptist Church.
