BLUE HILL Mary Estelle “Peggy” Berry died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in the Blue Hill community.

She was 29.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elbert Berry Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Wiley Wilson II and Geneva Johnson Wilson; her paternal grandmothers, Adline Dee and Artimises Dee; and John Henry Trevillion.

Miss Berry is survived by her mother, Irene Wilson Berry; five sisters, Josephine Freeman of Caseyville, Miss., Susie Ann Robertson of McBride, Miss., Lillie Walker of Vicksburg and Zula Ward and Rosetta Betty Berry, both of Union Church; three brothers, the Rev. Elbert Berry Jr. of Union Church, Edward L. Berry of Red Lick and Nathan Berry of Russum; nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; and other relatives and friends, including Charlene Wilson and members of the Wilson, Berry, Dee, Wren, Hedrick, Thomas and Burnette families of Port Gibson and Fayette.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark M.B. Church in the Blue Hill community with the Rev. Andr Ramsey of Natchez officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Pattison.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the church.

EUGENE GIBBS SR.

Eugene Gibbs Sr. died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at his home.

He was 77.

Mr. Gibbs was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church. He retired as a truck driver from Anderson-Tully Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Thomas Green and Sarah Gibbs.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Gibbs of Vicksburg; five sons, Eugene Gibbs Jr., the Rev. Edmond Gibbs, David Gibbs and Richard Gibbs, all of Vicksburg, and Calvin Sampson of Chicago; 10 daughters, Vivian Butler, Mamie Cook, Beverly Carson, Carol Gibbs, Helen Mace and Dorothy Rhodes, all of Vicksburg, Kathy Gibbs and Velma Gibbs, both of Texas, Dorothy Pearson of Rolling Fork and Diane Lampkins of Chicago; 34 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

U.D. INCE

BRANDON U.D. Ince died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

He was 79.

Mr. Ince, a native of Cleburne, Texas, lived in Brandon. He served on the USS Antietam and other ships until his retirement from the Navy in 1966. He was a self-employed commercial fisherman and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include four daughters, Joy Marie Murphy of Ruston, La., Marilyn Lou Neeley of Vicksburg, Marilyn Maxine Boone of Brandon and Katharyn Sue Smith of Terry; a sister, Hazel Kersh of Aransas Pass, Texas; a brother, James Robert Ince of Joseph, Ore.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood South Cemetery in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight and from 12:30 until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38501 or the Berean Family Home in Brookhaven.

CLARENCE E. MARSDEN

TALLULAH Services for Clarence E. Marsden were at 10 a.m. today at the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial followed at the Silver Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Marsden died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center.

He was 91.

Mr. Marsden was a Madison Parish resident for about 55 years and was the owner and operator of Marsdens’ Grocery at Talla Bena, La. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Marsden was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Traxler Marsden.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Libby Sue and Ron Tower of Vicksburg; one brother, Bill Marsden of Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandchildren, Kris Tower and Tracy Tower, both of Grand Junction, Colo.; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Charles Vining III, Kenneth Gunter, Thomas Russell, Bert Batchelor, Lloyd Erwin and Andy Vining. Honorary pallbearer was Tom Byrd.
