FRANCES CARPENTER

Frances Carpenter died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center.

She was 84.

A native of Meridian, Mrs. Carpenter lived in Utica for 20 years and Vicksburg most of her life. She was a member of the Utica Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ray Carpenter Sr.; her parents Benjamin Samuel and Eza Lee Dearman Herrod; two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a son, Earl Ray Carpenter Jr. of San Pedro, Calif.; a daughter, Kay C. Barfield of Vicksburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Snell, pastor of Utica Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bob Bryant, J.C. Conerly, Dana Allen, Thomas Herrod and Chuck Barfield.

Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association; 310 Airport Road; Pearl, Miss. 39208.

SAMUEL PURVIS COLEY

HAZLEHURST Samuel Purvis Coley died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Hardy Wilson Hospital in Hazlehurst.

He was 76.

Mr. Coley was a veteran of World War II and a retired mechanic. He was a deacon and a member of Future Farmers of America. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Coley of Hazlehurst; three sons, Arthur Allen Tenhet of Jackson, Marshall Felix Tenhet of Hazlehurst and Samuel Purvis Coley II of Vicksburg; a daughter, Angy Fay Tenhet Clower of Monroe; and five grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Burial followed at Pine Bluff Cemetery.

LOUISE WILSON CROWLEY

Louise Wilson Crowley died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in North Providence, R.I.

She was 94.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Crowley had lived in Johnston, R.I. She was manager of Hunter’s Beauty Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin Daniel Crowley; her parents, Sherman P. and Irene Shelton Wilson; and three sisters, Inez Cronia, Anne Freeman and Mary Meade.

Survivors include a son, retired U.S. Navy Capt. I. Daniel Crowley of Providence; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives including George Cronia of Vicksburg.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Providence. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.
