CAROLYN S. CAMPBELL

LEXINGTON Carolyn S. Campbell died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 64.

Mrs. Campbell, a housewife, had received a bachelor’s degree in education from Millsaps College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lexington. She was awarded a Life Master Title in the American Contract Bridge League in 1997.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Campbell of Lexington; two sons, Paul Campbell and Glenn Campbell, both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Christy Poer of New Albany; her mother, Josie E. Smith of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Lexington with the Rev. Dale Van Ness officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shane Johnson, Wayne Rhea, Kim Kimbrough, Max Yates, Harold Wilson and Gene Austin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Ware, Jack Yates, Chick Weathersby, Dr. John Downer and Carlton Aldridge.

Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, Miss., 39701-0037; French Camp Academy; First Presbyterian Church of Lexington; or Sta-Home Hospice of Jackson.

WILLIAM EDGAR COLLINS

NEWTON William Edgar “W.E.” Collins died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at his home in Newton. He was 75.

A native of Neshoba County, Mr. Newton was a retired carpenter and maintenance worker for the U.S. Post Office in Newton. He served in the Army in World War II and received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, ATO Medal, EAMETO Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member and deacon at Pine Bluff Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Townsend Collins of Newton; four sons, Ronald Collins of Vicksburg and Donald Collins, Ray Collins and Johnny Collins, all of Newton; two sisters, Fannie May of Newton and Annie Zue Sharp of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends, including Faye Ethridge of Newton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Webb Funeral Home in Newton with the Revs. Lin Chesney and Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Bluff Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Collins, Terry Collins, Donny Collins, Jay Collins, Colt Collins, Mark Collins, Jim Collins, John Collins and Angela Craven.

CLYDE MILLER

TALLULAH Clyde Miller died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 75.

Mr. Miller was born in Natchez and had lived in Tallulah for 50 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 100 in Tallulah.

A newspaper printer, he worked for the Madison Journal for 52 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah.

Survivors include a brother, Luther Thomas Miller of Tallulah, one nephew and a number of nieces.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 6:30 tonight at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jerome “Billy” Post, Charles V. “Bink” Dunn, George Graham, Carroll Regan, Jonathan Williams, Allan Star and Joe “Joe Ball” Bosley.
