JERRY G. DANIELS

Jerry G. Daniels died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Bellville, Ill. He was 63.

Born in Lawrence County, Mr. Daniels lived in Vicksburg from 1955 until 1985 and had lived in Edwards for the past 15 years. He was a retired transportation clerk for Illinois Central Railroad and a veteran of the Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Daniels, and his parents, Rhoby and Annie Lou Daniels.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Daniels of Edwards; a daughter, Candy Daniels Farrior of Vancleave; a son, Kenneth Daniels of Smithton, Ill.; three sisters, Cybil Rials of Brookhaven and Martha Ann Quinn and Jackie Greer, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Jim Daniels of Opelousas, La., and David Daniels and Donald Daniels, both of Vicksburg; and one grandchild, Wyatt Farrior of Vancleave.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Green Acres Cemetery with T.C. Rials Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Tuesday night at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Todd Boolos, Charles Farrior, Eric James, Mike Rials, Bryan Rials and Jason Daniels.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. H.H. Sessums and Dr. S. Scott Runnels.

PATSY ANN DAY

Services for Patsy Ann Day were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. E.L. Sharp officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Day died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 49.

Born in Memphis, Mrs. Day had lived in Vicksburg for the past 35 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Day.

She is survived by two daughters, Tammy Swayze of Brandon and Tasha Gladwell of Vicksburg; a son, Patrick Lee Day of Vicksburg; three brothers, Harold Owens of Tunica, Bobby Owens of Vicksburg and Robert Cross of Wesson; two sisters, Bonnie West of Vicksburg and Linda Owens of Texas; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joseph Day, David Gladwell, Terry West, Curtis West, Willie Gladwell Sr. and Todd Hoben.

DAVID HUNTER

David “Billy” Hunter died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 64.

Mr. Hunter was a native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He was the son of the late Bryan and Amber Green Hunter. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Gable.

Survivors include three brothers, Freddie Hunter and Charles O’Bannon, both of Vicksburg, and James Hunter of Brookhaven; and three sisters, Linda O. May and Mary Jo Price, both of Vicksburg, and Barbara Ann O’Bannon of Alaska.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rick McAllister officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Wednesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steve May, Jarrell Slaughter, Ted Crotwell, Rockie Fowler, Mike Luckett and Charlie Pettway.

EARL PARKER

Earl “Toad” Parker died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 89.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, Mr. Parker retired as chief engineer of Riverboat Mature with the U.S. Government with 40 years of service. He was one of the first and youngest diesel engineers on the Mississippi River.

He was a member of W.H. Stevens Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church where he was deacon for 25 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Lou Howell of Okemos, Mich.; a son, Earl B. Parker Jr. of Orange, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall and the Rev. Eric Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be E. Brewer Parker III, Joshua Howell, Adam Howell, Kevin Speer, V.C. Ahlrich and Clyde McAuley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Ludke, John Turner Sr., Jim Mackey, F.M. “Easy” Biedenharn, Harold Blue and the Boaz Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund, 1607 Cherry St., Vicksburg, Miss. 39180 or to the Boys and Girls Sheriff’s Ranch.

JOYCE BLYTHE ROS

Joyce Blythe Ros died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 66.

Born in Waxhaw, N.C., Mrs. Ros had lived in Vicksburg for the past 31 years. She was a graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, N.C., and had worked as a registered nurse in several hospitals before coming to Vicksburg where she worked at both Mercy and Vicksburg hospitals for five years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry L. Blythe.

Survivors include her husband, T. Rory Ros of Vicksburg; two sons, Timothy R. Ros Jr. of Vicksburg and Joseph H. Ros of Biloxi; a daughter, Sarah Kiger of Austin, Texas; her mother, Lennie Blythe of Denver, N.C.; a sister, Carolyn Hunsucker of Denver; a granddaughter, Rachel Ros of Biloxi; and other relatives, including Sam Kiger of Austin and Linda Ros of Biloxi.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. James O’Riordan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Tuesday night at the funeral home with the Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:15 followed by wake service at 7:30.

Pallbearers will be Walter Helsep, Bobby Wallace, Frank Ford, Tom Osborn, Charles Nicholson and Joe Myrick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Simpson, Scott Smith, Chris Ferrill, Kyle Reid, John Resta, Robert Portwood, Doug Boykin, Bob Langley and Emmett Neal.
