SARAH CHRISTIAN BROWN EWELL

Sarah Christian Brown Ewell died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000. She was 90.

Mrs. Ewell was a retired teacher and member of Spring Hill M.B. Church. She was a member of Vicksburg No. 1 Order of Eastern Star, Vicksburg-Warren County Teachers Association and the Mississippi Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Illinois D. Christian; three brothers, Leon Christian, John Christian and Sam Christian; and a sister, Ruby C. Marshall.

Survivors include a son, Leonard Brown of Tualatin, Ore.; two daughters, Thelma Brown Rush of Vicksburg and Georgene Ewell Clark of Cleveland, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Natalie Ewell Guillory of Vallejo, Calif.; two sisters, Eunice C. Thomas of Chicago and Laura C. Jones of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

KELVONTA’ TAVEZ HAMBERLIN

Kelvonta’ Tavez Hamberlin, infant son of Calvin Hamberlin Jr. and Kristen Swartz of Vicksburg, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, George and Alice Martin.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Calvin Hamberlin Sr. and Phyllis Hamberlin, both of Vicksburg; his maternal grandparents, Azzie Strong and James Swartz, both of Vicksburg; his paternal great-grandparents, Geneva Williams and Ruby Brown, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Callie Chiplin of Vicksburg.

Services were at 1 Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

RUTH WRIGHT WALLACE

Services for Ruth Wright Wallace will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Alban M.B. Church with the Rev. Amos B. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Wallace died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Wallace was self-employed, operating a cleaning store before retirement. She was a member of Greater Northside M.B. Church in Jackson where she was on the mother board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Ollie Cage Wright; a brother, Cleveland Wright; and a great-grandson, Tony R. Lampkin Jr.

She is survived by a son, the Rev. Eddie Wallace Jr. of Vicksburg; five brothers, Nathan Wright and Clifton Wright, both of Chicago, James Wright and Percy Hall Jr., both of Vicksburg, and Ernest L. Hall of Milwaukee, Wis.; five sisters, Corine W. Coins of Jackson, Millie Strong, Natalie Hall, Lureatha Hall Moore and Mary Ellen Hall, all of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
