RAYMOND BYNUM SR.

Raymond Bynum Sr. died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 74.

Mr. Bynum was a lifelong resident of the Redwood community where he was a farmer. He was a member of Evergreen M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda Bynum, and his parents.

He is survived by a son, Raymond Bynum Jr. of Redwood; two daughters, Odessa Williams and Laura White, both of Chicago; a sister, Viola Edmonds of Jackson; 15 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen M.B. Church with the Rev. Frank Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.

Visitation will be all day Saturday at the funeral home and from 12:30 until the service Sunday at the church.

LUCY CALVIN

Lucy Calvin died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 72.

Mrs. Calvin, a domestic worker, was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dillard and Malinda Calvin; a daughter, Marion Thomas; three sisters, Sadie Calvin, Hazel Berry and Eddie Lee Calvin; and a brother, Russell Calvin.

Survivors include a son, George Thomas of Vicksburg; a daughter, Ella Jeane McCoy of Vicksburg; four brothers, Luster Calvin, Dave Calvin and Clarence Tolliver, all of San Diego, and Mose Calvin of Currieville, Texas; two sisters, JoRee Jackson and Virgil Calvin, both of San Diego; and three grandchildren.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

JAMES COOPER JR.

ROLLING FORK James Cooper Jr. died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. He was 65.

Mr. Cooper was a farmer with Mount Helena Plantation for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Willie B. Cooper of Rolling Fork; two sons, James Cooper III and Eddie Williams, both of Greenville; six daughters, Edna Grace and Diane Johnson, both of Greenville; Vivian Johnson of Louise, Alice Cooper, Susie Cooper and Helen Cooper, all of Rolling Fork; two brothers, Luster Cooper and Frank Cooper, both of Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Rosetta Millsaps of Yazoo City, Nettie Dyer and Olivia Hardeiman, both of Pontiac, Mich.; and other relatives including Willie Morgan and James and Ellen Green, all of Rolling Fork.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Chapel M.B. Church in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

J.C. CULBERT

NATCHEZ J.C. Culbert died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Natchez Community Hospital. He was 54.

Mr. Culbert was a native of Jefferson County and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Fayette. He retired as a lumber stacker from Georgia Pacific and Pickens Lumber.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Lee Culbert; his parents, Willie and Enetta Culbert; and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Rochelle Culbert of Natchez; two brothers, Ernest Lee and Mack Culbert, both of Fayette; two sisters, Venetta Fulton and Willie Mae Monroe, both of Fayette; and other relatives and friends, including Luther Felton of Fayette.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. John Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 9 Friday night at Rolling Funeral Home in Fayette.
