MILDRED MIKELL ABRAHAM

PORT GIBSON Mildred Mikell Abraham died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Abraham was a Prentiss native and had lived in Port Gibson most of her adult life. She attended Mississippi University for Women and worked as a home economist for Farm Security Administration for 15 years.

She and her husband operated Auto Vue Drive-in Movie Theater for 25 years. She was also a salesman for World Book Encyclopedia for a number of years and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Abraham was preceded in death by a son, Stephen T. Abraham Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen T. “Buddy” Abraham of Port Gibson; two sons, William B. “Bill” Abraham of Port Gibson and Charles Mikell Abraham of Madison; four brothers, LaRue Mikell and Roland Mikell, both of Prentiss, Curtis M. Mikell of McComb and Harry Mikell of Jackson; three sisters, Hilda Berry of Jackson and Virginia Brinson and Doris Rogers, both of Prentiss; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Claiborne County Nursing Center. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service at St. James Episcopal Parish House.

Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church or Chamberlain-Hunt Academy.

L.D. DICKERSON

UNION L.D. Dickerson died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his home in Union. He was 81.

Born in Arkansas, Mr. Dickerson was a farmer. He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Earl Dickerson.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Tune Dickerson of Union; eight sons, Bobby Dickerson of Hollandale, Billy Joe Dickerson and Jimmy Ray Dickerson, both of Newton, Jeff Dickerson and Jerry Ray Dickerson, both of Vicksburg, Donald Alford Dickerson of Myrtle, Gary Lynn Dickerson of Glen Allen and Lloyd D. Dickerson of Flora; two daughters, Marcie Overall of Jackson and Jan Farve of New Orleans; 26 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Grove Pentecostal Church in Sebastapol with the Revs. Mark Copeland and Jerry Wayne Dillion officiating.

Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Williams, Jeremy Dickerson, William Hart, Matthew Dickerson, Billy Joe Dickerson Jr., Eddie Williams, Arnold Williams, Shawn Farve and W.L. Evans.

DOROTHY L. HUDSON

Dorothy “Dot” L. Hudson died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 61.

Born in Jefferson County, Mrs. Hudson had lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She was employed at Cooper Lighting.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Wayne Hudson; her parents, Garrison and Virgie Mae Haggan; a brother, Lonnie Haggan; and a sister, Nannie Loyd.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Hudson of Vicksburg; a son, Michael Hudson of Vicksburg; a brother, Dalton Haggan of Crystal Springs; four sisters, Audrey Adams of Brandon, Ellen Jackson of Richland, Bessie Hanis of Pattison and Alice Palmer of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Tuesday night at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tom Hudson, Tommy Hannis, Glendean Nevels, Tom Minton, Mitchell Bessonette, Michael Bessonette and Danny Prince.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Russellville Hunting Club and Johnny Wayne Nevels.
