DEPHENE HITT

Dephene Hitt died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 57.

Born in Louisiana, Miss Hitt had lived in Vicksburg for the past 43 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Hitt, and a brother, Glenn Hitt.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Grey of Huntsville, Mo., and Sharon Brown of Vicksburg; her mother, Viley Hitt of Monroe; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Friday at the funeral home.

ELIZABETH JONES

PORT GIBSON Elizabeth Jones died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 63.

Born in Jefferson County, Mrs. Jones was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church. She was a member of AARP and the Black Caucus.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lizzie Washington; her father, George Washington Sr.; a son, Robert Lee Brown; two sisters, Louise Hedrick and Matile Washington Booker; and three brothers, Esaw Washington, Floyd Washington and Dan Washington.

Survivors include six daughters, Judy Hamilton and Carolyn Carter, both of Port Gibson, Janice Adams and Shelly Jones, both of Nashville, Tenn., and Rosemary Brown and Jerry Ann Smith, both of Los Angeles; three sons, Danny Washington of Port Gibson, John Washington of Los Angeles and Bernis Jones of Vicksburg; three brothers, George Washington Jr. of Port Gibson, Roosevelt Washington of Jefferson County and Willie Washington of Natchez; two sisters, Mary Banks of Jefferson County and Lela Coleman of Memphis; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including Rosie Dixon of Jefferson County, Edward Brandon of Port Gibson and Lillian Gaines of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rollins Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery.

FRANCES BROWNING WYLY

TALLULAH Services for Frances Browning Wyly were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Fred Fulton officiating.

Mrs. Wyly died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at her home in Tallulah. She was 85.

She was born in Monroe. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor of arts in education and Mississippi College with a master’s degree in counseling. She was a retired teacher and counselor with more than 40 years of service in Lake Providence and Tallulah. She was a member and former officer of Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was former regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi and First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her husband, James Grady Wyly Jr. of Tallulah; a daughter, Myrtis Wyly of New Orleans; two sons, Fred B. Wyly of Tallulah and James Grady Wyly III of Bay St. Louis; three grandchildren, Katherine Laura Wyly, James Grady Wyly IV and William Connor Wyly; and other relatives including Teri Wyly of Bay St. Louis.
