St. Aloysius bows to Bogue Chitto

The good news for the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes is that they scored 20 points in the second quarter at perennial powerhouse Bogue Chitto.

The bad news: the Lady Bobcats exploded to an 18-1 lead in the first quarter. en route to a 75-41 win.

“I don’t know if it’s their name or what, but we came out lackadaisical in the first quarter, just like we did the first time we played them,” St. Al coach Paul Hayden said.

Mollie Richards had a double-double, with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Kristen Patrick scored 14 for St. Al (7-6, 3-3 in division).

Randi Moak scored 17 for the Lady Bobcats (8-2), who turned a 32-21 halftime lead into a 60-36 advantage going into the fourth period.

“We spent so much energy in the second quarter, it caught up with us in the third,” Hayden said.

St. Al will host Port Gibson Saturday at 2 p.m.

(B) Bogue Chitto 66, St. Al 43

The Bobcats jumped out to a 41-13 lead at the half and never looked back.

Clay Simmons had 12 points and seven rebounds and Lee Wiles had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Flashes (4-9, 2-4), who outscored the home team 30-25 in the second half.

Terrell Black led the hosts with 12 points.

“They came out very aggressive and we didn’t respond,” Hayden said.
