LUCILLE OGDEN

TALLULAH Lucille Ogden died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Madison Parish Hospital. She was 88.

Mrs. Ogden was born in Huttig, Ark., and had lived in Louisiana for 72 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Warsaw Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Ogden.

She is survived by a son, Harold A. Ogden of Tallulah; a daughter, Evelyn Ogden Gates of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and other relatives including Freddie Tisdale of Delhi.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lamar Baptist Church Cemetery in Delhi with the Rev. Marion Collier officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

JOHN H. THOMAS

John H. Thomas died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home. He was 50.

Mr. Thomas was a 1967 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University in 1971. He received his master’s degree from Mississippi State University and further studied at Mississippi College and Alcorn State University. He had 27 years’ service as an administrator with Warren County Public Schools, Hinds Community College, Biloxi Public Schools and Hinds County Public Schools, from which he retired. He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, David E. Thomas Sr., and a sister, Ca’lannye M. Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Diane M. Thomas of Vicksburg; two sons, Jonathan J. Thomas and Justin D. Thomas, both of Vicksburg; a daughter, Tammy Thomas-Jackson of Memphis; his mother, Caldonia M. Thomas of Vicksburg; a brother, David E. Thomas Jr. of Vicksburg; a sister, Kara E. Thomas Johnson of Chicago; two grandchildren David Nicholas Jackson and Morgan Diane Jackson, both of Memphis; and other relatives including David Jackson of Memphis, Brenneth Johnson, Brenee Johnson and Julian Johnson, all of Chicago, and Angela Thomas-Stamps of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

HASKELL E. WILLIAMS

YAZOO CITY Haskell E. Williams died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Medical Center in Jackson. He was 79.

An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Williams was a retired Yazoo City police officer. He was past vice commander of Roy Lammons VFW in Yazoo City and a member of St. Johns Methodist Church in Yazoo City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Williams; and a son, Tommy H. Williams.

He is survived by a daughter, Janelle Gainey of Jackson; a son, Charles Steve Williams of Yazoo City; two sisters, Martha Louise Smith of Barnswell, Ga., and Ida Mae Bliss of Yazoo City; two brothers, E.L. Williams of Yazoo City and J.D. Williams of Jackson; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other relatives, including several in Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Yazoo County.
