[01/04/01] Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi are ranked in Baseball America’s preseason poll, which was released Wednesday.

MSU is No. 21 and Southern Miss is 25th in the rankings. The Bulldogs, who finished 41-20 and 15th last year, were No. 21 in Collegiate Baseball’s preseason poll. Former Vicksburg High stars Robby Goodson and Michael Brown are on MSU’s team.

USM, which went 32-26 last year, will return six position players and two pitchers, including ex-Warren Central star Shea Douglas.

Georgia Tech is No. 1 and Southern Cal is No. 2 in the poll. Six SEC teams are ranked.
