PCA starts new season’ with conference victory

[01/08/01] Trey White had 20 points and seven assists while Andrew Embry and Joseph Ivey had double-doubles as Porters Chapel Academy picked up its first Conference 7-A win, 65-58 at Franklin in Winnsboro, La.

“This is a new season for us,” said PCA coach Roger Browning, whose team was winless until the Christmas holidays. “We played better tonight than we have all year. We just clicked.”

The Eagles (2-14, 1-1 in conference) scored 29 points on free throws. Embry made 9 of 11 and finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Ivey, a freshman, had 14 points and 12 rebounds. White made 14 of 24 from the line.

Chad Carter led the Cougars with 18 points.

PCA will be at Briarfield Tuesday for another 7-A matchup.
