Lessie Jackson Ward died Wednesday, January, 10, 2001, at her residence in Lorman. She was 48.

Ms. Ward was a laborer at Bruce Hardwood in Port Gibson and a member of Hollywood Baptist Church.

Ms. Ward was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Jackson Sr. and Mamie Jackson; three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by four sons, Charles Johnson Jr., Calvin Johnson, Larry Ward Jr. and Christopher Wells all of Port Gibson; two daughters, Preshervie Jackson and Fionndrea Ward, both of Port Gibson; four brothers, Amos Jackson of Memphis, Tenn., George Jackson and Billy Ray Jackson of Los Angeles, Ca., and Ray Leon Smith of Vicksburg; six sisters, Lula Stewart of Port Gibson, Sandra Jackson-Kincaid of Marietta, Ga., Esther Jackson-Blanding of Carson, Calif., Annie Jackson and Josie Jackson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mamie Venters of Gardina, Calif.; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. E.E. Colenberg officiating. Burial followed in Hollywood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

BARBARA FLATHAU

Services for Barbara Flathau were Monday at Crawford Street United Methodist Church with the Revs. Geoffrey Joiner and Glenn Thomas officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Flathau died Friday, January 12, 2001, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 62.

She was a native of Culman, Ala., and had lived in Vicksburg for 23 years. She was retired from the GE Office at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant in Claiborne County, where she was accounting manager.

She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, the Ruth Circle of the UMW and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She served on the administrative board, co-chairman of the Council on Ministries, chairman of the annual turkey dinner, Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher and community Bible School teacher. She also participated in the Disciple Bible Study Series and Explorers Bible Study.

She had been a hostess for the Miss Mississippi Pageant since 1986. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and a member of the Vicksburg Gideons Auxiliary, having served as president, vice-president and chaplain. She was a member of the Advisory Council of the Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, the Mississippi Methodist Cursillo and served as Rectora for Cursillo No. 88, a member of the staff of the Kairos Prison Ministry and the Vicksburg Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Hubert Reinhardt.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Flathau of Vicksburg; her mother, Ruby Pauline Oaks Reinhardt of Brandon; three sons, Jeffrey S. Flathau of Hattiesburg, Michael Vance Jensen of Vicksburg and Eric Borup Jensen of Lafayette, La.; one daughter, Jenness Ann Davis of Greenville; two sisters, Linda Jean Darfler of Gillette, Wyo., and Cynthia Kay McDonald of Clinton; a brother, Roy Kenneth Reinhardt of Brandon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mike Byers, Walter Sherman, Art Inkster, Jim Davis, Jack Cooper, Wes Lominick, Sonny Steele and Ken Stinger.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Bexley, Al Williamson, Hugh Green, David Wylie, Ron and Gloria Dear, Patty Byers, Betty Davis, Dr. Bob Shell, Dr. Dewey Purser, Don Neumann, Hubert Ray Smith, Bill Curtis and Richard Cowart.

ETTIE DIXON TERHUNE

Ettie Dixon Terhune died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Terhune was a native of Looxahoma, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg for 13 years. She was the daughter of the late Marcus N. and Mildred Myers Dixon. She retired after 30 years of service with the Bolivar County Health Department as a public health nurse. She was a member of the Vicksburg Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of Vicksburg Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burton Terhune; three brothers, Marcus M. Dixon, John Dixon and H.T. Dixon; and a grandson, Aaron Spencer Davis.

She is survived by a son, Bobby C. “Butch” Terhune of North Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Anne Stoddard and Ginger Terhune, both of Vicksburg, and Mille Davis of Dothan, Ala.; a sister, Lorraine Sowell of Senatobia; two brothers, Louis Dixon of Senatobia and Marion Dixon of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Tony Lalli, pastor of Vicksburg Church of Christ, officiating. Burial followed at Delta Heights Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.

Pallbearers were Marcus “Mark” Stoddard, Bobby Terhune Jr., Eddie Terhune, Tommy Terhune and Taylor Davis.

Honorary pallbearers were Michael Fowler, Dr. Anita Tribble, Patrick Murphy, Dr. John Mazzeo and Glenn Waters Jr.
