[01/17/01] E.J. Willis took her place in Warren County history Tuesday.

The Porters Chapel Academy senior scored 21 points in a 55-43 win over Tensas to become the county’s all-time scoring leader. She passed Warren Central’s Alisa Scott (2,850), who went on to star at Ole Miss and is currently an assistant coach with the three-time WNBA champion Houston Comets.

With 2,854 points, Willis is the all-time leading scorer among county girls and possibly boys.

She set the record with a basket early in the fourth quarter. Altogether, she scored six of PCA’s 14 fourth-quarter points and was given the game ball.

“She deserves it. She’s worked and worked hard on her shot since she was little,” said PCA coach Mitchell Willis, E.J.’s brother.

While Willis keyed the Lady Eagles late in the game, Brittany White sparked them early with 10 points and eight steals. Most of White’s steals came in the first half, as PCA (13-7, 5-0 Conference 7-A) opened a 33-25 halftime edge.

“I can’t say enough about Brittany White,” Mitchell Willis said. “Her defensive game was awesome. She was all over the place.”

Brady Willis added 10 points for PCA, which hosts Tallulah Academy on Friday. Shelby Alford led Tensas with 21 points.
