PERCY EDWARDS JR.

BOLTON Percy “Preacher” Edwards Jr. died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home in Bolton. He was 79.

He is survived by his wife, Anne W. Edwards of Bolton; seven sons, Percy Edwards III of Hammond, Ind., Bruce Edwards of Vicksburg, Darrell Edwards of Bolton and Brian Edwards, Rodney Edwards, Randolph Edwards and Vincent Edwards, all of Jackson; six daughters, Barbara McElroy of Jackson, Linda Edwards and Cheryl A. Edwards, both of Bolton, Gertrude McDougle and Patricia Jimerson, both of Clinton, and Lillie M. Lewis of Port Arthur, Texas; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Bolton Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM CLYDE LEE

TALLULAH William Clyde Lee died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at his home in Tallulah. He was 86.

Mr. Lee was born in Castor, La., and had lived in Madison Parish for 60 years. He was a farmer and member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hadwin Lee of Tallulah; two daughters, Norma Dean Hattaway and Joan Erwin, both of Tallulah; one son, Ricky C. Lee of Tallulah; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

DR. CHARLES SPURGEON MANGUM

NEW ORLEANS Dr. Charles Spurgeon Mangum died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He was 45.

A retired physician, Dr. Mangum was attending Loyola University School of Law. He practiced medicine for a number of years in Meridian. He was a resident of New Orleans and Fort Collins, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mangum.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie Long Mangum of Fort Collins; a daughter, Erin Rayner Mangum of Fort Collins; his mother, Ruth Gipson Mangum of Natchez; two sisters, Nona Spencer of Indianola and Charlotte Mangum Steele of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were Saturday at Barham Funeral Home in Meridian with the Rev. Tom Sikes officiating.

FRANK SMITH

Frank Smith died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 64.

Mr. Smith had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church. He retired as a millwright from Vicksburg Chemical Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Ruby Hensley Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Gayla M. Smith of Vicksburg; two daughters, Vicky Lynn Penny and Debra Louise Graham, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Jimmy Smith of Murray, Ky., and Gary W. Smith of Cartersville, Ga.; two sisters, Catherine Hollowell and Linda Hull, both of Vicksburg; five brothers, Bobby J. Smith, Richard E. Smith, William G. Smith and Charles H. Smith, all of Vicksburg, and L. Wayne Smith of Madison; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Warrenton Independent Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Welborn and Roy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Wednesday night at the church.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Smith, Richard Earl Smith, William G. Smith, L. Wayne Smith, Robert Hollowell and James Hull.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church.
