Lady Flashes top .500 mark

[01/24/01] Mollie Richards had 15 points and 11 rebounds as St. Aloysius beat Wesson, 43-36, to go over .500. Leslie Dyess and Kristen Patrick chipped in 10 points apiece for the Lady Flashes (10-9), who led 19-9 at the half.

“Leslie hit some big shots for us” to open up the inside for Richards, St. Al coach Paul Hayden said.

Jessica Phillips scored 15 for Wesson, which will play St. Al again Saturday in the opening games of the Red Carpet Classic.

(B) St. Al 70, Wesson 69

The Flashes (5-14) used a 27-point third quarter to pull away from the Cobras. Clay Simmons had 17 points and six rebounds and Chris Bass added 12 points and six rebounds for St. Al.

“They made a run, but we hung in there,” Hayden said.

Matt Horne hit two big 3’s in the second period and Ryan Hearn and Justin Williams hit some key baskets down the stretch, Hayden said.

Richie Miller scored 28 for Wesson.
