EMMA LEE ARMSTRONG BOLDEN

Emma Lee Armstrong Bolden died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 52.

Mrs. Bolden was a cook with the Vicksburg Warren Public School System. She was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Armstrong.

She is survived by a son, Ronald Carl Bolden of Vicksburg; her mother, Annie Goldsberry Armstrong of Vicksburg; three brothers, Roy Armstrong of Princeton, Texas, Claiborne Armstrong and Kevin lee Armstrong, both of Vicksburg; six sisters, Rosie Armstrong of Joliet, Ill., Dorothy Armstrong, Olivia Armstrong, Brenda A. Banks, Jessie Armstrong and Mary Jo Armstrong, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives including George Dolly of Vicksburg.

CHESLEY JOHNSON ENGLADE

Services for Chesley Johnson Englade were at 2 p.m. Monday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Bryant, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Englade died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 71.

She was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Military Order of the Cooties Auxiliary, the Vicksburg Historical Society, National Arbor Foundation and First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Barron and Lenora Sanders Johnson; three sisters, Mattie Mae Carlisle, Hilda Ruth Culkin and Emma Elizabeth Hickman; and three brothers, Johnnie B. Johnson Jr., Vivian B. Johnson and James Ray Johnson.

Mrs. Englade is survived by her husband, Curtis M. Englade of Vicksburg; a daughter, Monette Englade Ward of Vicksburg; two sons, Mark Englade of Houston, Texas, and Fred Englade of Monroe, La.; one brother, William E. “Bubba” Johnson of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Keen, Tom Carlisle, Eric Johnson, Mike Keen, O.B. “Sonny” Hickman, Gil Culkin, John Carlisle, W.E. “Bud” Johnson Jr., Monty Hickman and Steve Carlisle.

Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Smith Sr., Wallace W. Raines, Bobby Raines, Sonny Keen, Robert Pierce, members of the ladies auxiliaries of the VFW, American Legion and Military Order of the Cooties and doctors and nurses of the Vicksburg Medical Center ICU unit.

ROBERT ENGLAND

Services for Robert “Kiddie Man” England will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Robert Green officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 Monday night at the funeral home.

Mr. England died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 64.

Mr. England was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church and was retired from the City of Vicksburg construction department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie England Sr. and Regina Collins England; and a sister, Hazel Lee Demby.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae England of Vicksburg; a son, Cornelius Walker of Vicksburg; a daughter, Margaret Moore of Albuquerque, N.M.; four brothers, Willie England Jr. of Rolling Fork, Johnny England of Bakersfield, Calif., and Norman Smith and Alonzo England, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Maude England and Dorothy Warren, both of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

PROPST FAIR

JACKSON Propst Fair died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 66.

Mr. Fair was a former resident of Vicksburg and Louisville and a longtime resident of Jackson. He was an independent businessman. He was a graduate of University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha and a member of the alumni association. He was a charter member of the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and a founding member of the Tongelea Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Brasfield Fair of Jackson; a daughter, Babs Woods of Austin, Texas; a son, Claude Propst Fair of Conroe, Texas; his mother, Mary Turner Fair of Ridgeland; a stepdaughter, Michelle Majure Turba of Tupelo; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Monday night at the family residence, 306 Meadowoods Drive, Jackson.

THELMA GARRETT JEFFERSON

Thelma Garrett Jefferson died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 69.

Mrs. Jefferson was retired from Batesville Casket Co. She was a member of Ruth Chapter No. 2 Order of Eastern Star and St. Mark M.B. Church

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Myles and Bertha Trisby; and a brother, Charlie Myles.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Jefferson Jr. of Vicksburg; three sons, Donald J. Garrett, David W. Garrett and Alvin R. Garrett, all of Vicksburg; seven daughters, Patricia G. Williams of Jackson, Shirley G. Swartz, Sandra G. Brown and Susan G. Bells, all of Vicksburg, Lucy G. Jones of Columbus, Ga., Brenda G. Free of West Point and Bertha G. “Penny” Woodberry of Raymond; 21 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives including Leverta Harris of Chicago and the Passmore, Harris, Sims and Trisby families, all of Vicksburg.

SYLVESTER MASON

Sylvester Mason died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 59.

Mr. Mason was a retired Central Asphalt Co. operator and a member of Fellowship M.B. Church in Lorman.

He is survived by three daughters and four sisters.
